Hours needed:

Friday and Saturday 10 AM to 4:30 PM

On call Monday and Tuesday to sort through donations or help with large donation pick ups.

Approximately 16 hours a week.

Cattery Attendant (Main Campus in Rio Rancho)

WMR has an open position at our Main Campus for a Cattery Attendant. This is a vital position in the feline program and does require hands-on work with the cats!

Daily Duties to include (but not limited to):
• Feeding and ensuring felines have access to fresh water
• Cleaning and Sanitizing Litter Boxes
• Sweeping and Mopping Floors
• Wellness Checks on Felines in Various Cottages
• Laundry
• Assisting with Intake of New Felines to the Property
• Conducting Adoption Tours for Qualified Adopters
• Cleaning and sanitizing various housing cottages for felines

The cattery attendant will need great communication skills, as this person will be working along side the vet clinic team to ensure felines are receiving the quality care they deserve. There is bending at the knees and back that are required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds (cat litter bags/boxes).

Kennel Supervisor and Kennel Attendant

The position of kennel staff is a very important one and the employee must be prepared to provide the utmost care of WMR animals and ensure their safety and comfort at all times.

 

Job Duties:

  • Transporting animals to and from the kennels.

  • Ensuring that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.

  • Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels.

  • Disposing of trash in a timely manner.

  • Accompanying animals on walks, if required.

  • Calming animals who are in distress.

  • Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.

  • Assist adopters, donors and public on tours of Ranch and dog kennels when needed
     

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience caring for animals will be advantageous.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Physically fit and agile.

  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.

  • A passion for animal welfare.

  • Available to work weekends and public holidays, if required.

Vet Assistant/Vet Tech
Full Time position open in our vet clinic at the Main Campus in Rio Rancho.

Job Duties:

  • Care for boarding and hospitalized animals, including cage cleaning, exercising, feeding, observations for signs of illness, laundry, bathing procedures, and keeping animals clean. 
     

  • Assist Veterinarian(s) in patient care and medical treatments including but not limited to: medication administration, vaccine administration, acquiring laboratory samples, processing in-house and reference lab samples, anesthesia monitoring, dental prophy, surgical preparation, critical/emergency care and triage.
     

  • Assist in cleaning the vet clinic including but not limited to: laundry, floors, taking out the trash, cleaning treatment areas, surgery, exam rooms, kennels, and quarantine areas. 
     

  • Assist in the intake of new animals onto the property. This to include but not limited to: administering appropriate vaccinations, physical exam, verify microchip if any, complete proper intake paperwork, and ensure vitals are properly recorded in the computer based system. 
     

  • Assist Vet Clinic Manager and Licensed Veterinarian with clinical/surgical procedures. This is to include but not limited to: prepping animals for surgery (expressing bladders, shaving appropriate areas etc.) proper and safe sedations of animals, monitor animals during sedation and surgery, monitor animals as they come out of anesthesia. Also, to include completion of surgical dental cleaning and any other procedures as deemed necessary by the licensed Veterinarian. 

    Required Key Skills:

  • Surgery experience

  • Basic computer skills to include: Microsoft Office products, web based programs, email and web searches online. 

  • Must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Compassion for animals and colleagues

Caretaker/Security (PT or FT)
We are looking for someone (or couple) to join our team at the Ranch in Rio Rancho for Caretaker/Security duties. In exchange for duties, successful candidates will be provided with a rent-free RV and site with full hookups; power, water, sewer, and garbage services. Salary based on projects.

 

The duties listed below are only meant as a guide. Specific job duties and description to be discussed.

 

Job Duties:

  • Assist staff with deliveries and stocking of food and supplies

  • Check and maintain all air conditioning/heating units, electrical, plumbing, etc. as required.

  • Repair, paint interior/exterior areas as needed.

  • Maintain all vehicles and equipment in good running order. This includes maintaining oil changes, tire rotation, etc.

  • Laundry from animals

  • Be an active member of the WMR Staff and represent WMR in the best possible way.

  • And other duties assigned by Ranch Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Eligible to work in the United States

Pass a background check 

Speak English, bi-lingual a plus (Spanish)

Able to perform outdoor manual labor on a daily basis regardless of weather

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
