Animal Shelter Vet Techs - Do you love a fast-paced, never boring environment where you impact dozens of animals’ lives every single day? Do you want to be part of New Mexico’s largest no-kill animal shelter? If your answer is yes, you just may be our newest team member!
 

Watermelon Mountain Ranch is looking for experienced Vet Techs or Vet Assistants for our shelter vet clinic where we intake our animals and get them ready for their forever homes. Shelter experience preferred, but we can train the right candidate.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides assessment and basic treatment to shelter animals, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and vaccinations (excluding rabies), and schedules further assessment, diagnostics, treatment and/or follow-up care by a veterinarian as necessary.

• Recommends treatment plans, schedules appointments and follow-up needs for shelter and foster pets, preparing for surgery days, and other functions.

• Performs and assists with the timely intake exams of animals.

• Bathes animals and performs limited grooming tasks

• Ensures necessary animal records are properly maintained.

• Ensures proper labeling and dating of medications,

• Answers vet clinic phone line and responds to voicemails promptly.
   

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Vet Tech or Vet Assistant Certificate (preferred)

• Animal surgery assistance.

• Work independently, self-motivated and team-oriented.

• Shelter vet clinic experience preferred
   

Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time Wed-Sun, 8am-4pm

Work Location: Main Ranch, northern Rio Rancho, NM
