Going to the Dogs (and Cats) Resale Shop supports the Watermelon Mountain Ranch mission by providing the revenue stream to fund Molly's Mercy Missions, our program that saves the lives of animals on municipal shelter euthanasia lists.

 

So, please keep the treasures coming – responsibly! Please see below for times and guidelines for merchandise donations.

Thrift Store Donation Guidelines

Please DO NOT dump donations of clothing and household goods in front or back of our Bernalillo building or at our Cottonwood Mall location, especially when we’re not open. These donations end up getting dirty, wet and picked through and then we are not able to sell them.

Please be understanding if a staff member tells you we cannot accept a particular donation. Watermelon Mountain Ranch spends thousands of dollars every year on waste management due to our dumpster being filled with donations we can’t sell.

 

Please be respectful that our Bernalillo building, parking lot and dumpster are private property just like at any other business in town, where you would never consider trespassing after hours or leaving trash on their property.

Items We Can Accept (donations in high demand)
We are always looking for the following items in good, clean, dry,  smoke-free, and workable condition.

  • Antiques, Art, & Collectables

  • Autos and trucks (please complete this form)

  • Cameras & Optical Equipment

  • Books, Comics, Records, CDs, DVDs, etc.

  • Clothing Men, Women, Children All Sizes (Must be clean and free of defects)

  • Clean carpets and rugs

  • Computers, printers and accessories (Computers, Desktops, and Laptops (< 7 yrs old). Computer Printers (< 5 yrs old)

  • Dishes and Glassware

  • Table and Floor Fans We do not accept ceiling fans

  • Furniture (Clean, non-smoking home, not disassembled)

  • Luggage

  • Hardware

  • Jewelry & watches

  • Kitchen items

  • Linens

  • Musical instruments

  • Pots & pans

  • Sporting goods

  • Televisions (flat panel only)

  • Tools: hand and power

  • Toys

  • Vacuums

  • Office Supplies and Medical Equipment

Items We Cannot Accept

We want, need, and depend on your donations, but we cannot accept items our customers will not buy or our operations cannot handle. Thanks for understanding.

  • Appliances (except new, in box):Compactors, Freezers, Garbage Disposals, Humidifiers, Refrigerators Less than 8 cu ft, Sinks, Stoves, Washers, Dryers

  • Automotive (click here for Vehicle donation information)

  • Auto parts, car top carriers, wheels, hub caps, tires

  • Building Materials (of any type)

  • Carpets/Pads

  • Chemicals/Cleaning Solutions

  • Cosmetics

  • Damaged or Incomplete Items

  • Electronics (Computers more than 7 yrs old, CRT TVs or monitors, fax machines, TV-radio consoles, Computer printers more than 5 years old.

  • Furnishings (Blinds and blind hardware, drapery hardware)

  • Furniture: Bed springs with exposed metal, box prints, mattresses, furniture with worn, ripped or stained upholstery, particle board entertainment centers, metal office desk, entertainment centers,

  • Infant/Baby Equipment: Booster seats, car seats, cribs with drop sides, portable cribs

  • Ceiling fans and lights

  • Medical Items: Medicines, opened medical products, prescription medical items, c-pap equipment

  • Large Musical Instruments: Organs, Pianos

  • Paints/Solvents/Oils: Automotive fluids/oils, opened paint cans, alcohol, turpentine, varnish

  • Sporting Goods: Non-metallic weights.  

  • Pistols, Shotguns or Rifles.

Request a Donation Pickup

We pickup large items, like furniture, that generous community members would like to donate to our resale stores.
